Navarre Beach Camping Resort offers the opportunity to relax and spend time with family. Or perhaps you’re more of an explorer and want to see what there is in the nearby area. If the latter is the case you can’t go wrong with visiting historic Milton.
Classic Florida town
Sometimes builders want to recreate the look of classic towns. In Florida when builders wanted to recreate a classic town, they came to Milton. Here you can find blocks of historic stores and homes leading to the waterfront on the Blackwater River. Milton was a shipbuilding town and you can sense the timber and turpentine that went into the creation of classic ships.
A Jewel
When you’re visiting Historic Milton, make sure that you visit St. Mary’s Church. Famous architect, Frank Lloyd Writing described it as “a jewel created in the purest tradition of the Gothic Revival. It survives today with its pure lines intact, its muted colors untouched. Purity, it is without a blemish.” It is an historic Carpenter Gothic style church entered into the U.S. National Register of Historic Places in May of 1962.
Historic Hotspot
Another great place to stop in Milton is the historic post office. If rails are your thing, stop by the recently renovated rail depot and see some of the classic sights. There are numerous opportunities for antiquing nearby as well. If you’re up for a little more walking, you can follow some historic roads to visit Baghdad Village or a historic mill.
